Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 
Village of Marcellus – Department of Public Works

The Village of Marcellus is accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Grade 2A municipal wastewater treatment plant with a design capacity of 0.38 MGD, including associated composting operations. The position also performs related DPW work as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant systems
  • Monitor processes, perform sampling and testing, and maintain required records
  • Ensure compliance with NYS DEC regulations and permit requirements
  • Operate, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and related mechanical equipment
  • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and off-hour call-ins
  • Perform general DPW duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License (required)
  • Mechanical skills related to pumps, valves, and equipment repair (required)
  • NYS Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade 2A license or higher (preferred)
  • Ability to use basic computer programs for monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Salary: $26 – $32 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
