Village of Marcellus Brush and Leaf Collection Policy
The Brush and Leaf Collection Policy is intended for the use of Village residents and excludes waste left by a professional service provider.
The Brush and Leaf Collection Policy does not include any waste from tree removal, whether the tree was removed by a professional tree service or the homeowner.
BRUSH includes seedlings, shrubbery, and trimmed tree branches.
BRUSH DOES NOT include dirt, stone, lumber, grass clippings or debris resulting from tree removal.
LEAVES includes only those leaves that accumulate from trees located within the Village limits.
BRUSH and LEAVES must be separated. Mixed piles of debris will NOT be collected.
BRUSH and LEAVES are not collected simultaneously and should not be placed at the curb unless during the corresponding collection dates.
BRUSH may be placed at the curb on Saturdays and Sundays only for collection on Mondays at designated times throughout the year.
BRUSH and LEAVES should NOT be placed at the curb for collection prior to the weekend proceeding the designated pick-up dates.
BRUSH should not be tied but must be neatly piled on the right of way, away from any objects such as trees, sewer vents or utility poles.
BRUSH may be contained in metal or plastic containers (no plastic bags), none of which when filled shall exceed the weight of 50 pounds and all of which shall be labeled for identification.
The total amount of all BRUSH piles to be put out on any given pickup day may not exceed 10 feet in length, 2 feet in height, and 3 feet in depth.
No single piece of BRUSH shall exceed 5 feet in length, nor 6 inches in diameter.
BRUSH brought about by storm damage is to be processed in the same manner as above during designated collection times. Any resident with an excess amount of BRUSH that is a result of storm damage outside of the designated collection times may call the DPW Superintendent at (315) 673-3112 for assistance.
LEAVES (Unbagged) should not be placed to the curb prior to the weekend proceeding the scheduled collection date. Though not required during the designated collection times, residents are encouraged to contain leaves in paper leaf bags for pickup.
Outside of the designated collection timeframe, LEAVES may be contained in paper leaf bags and placed on the curb, weather permitting. Only those contained in paper leaf bags will be collected outside of the designated collection timeframe, this includes during the designated BRUSH collection dates.
